Convert a bitmap logo into a reusable, resizable, shareable vector based custom shape. Say you create a logo that is pixel based (bitmap) or you copy one from a website and you want to convert that into a reusable and sharable vector based logo (custom shape) Here's how:
1. Make a selection of your logo (Cmd + click on the layer if it has transparency, Control + click if on a PC).
2. Go to the paths palette and either click on the 'Make work path from selection' icon button at the bottom of the palette or (for more control) click on the 'Make Work Path...' from the palette menu.
3. (if needed) fine tune the path that is generated from the selection by using the direct selection tool.
4. Click on the Edit menu -> Define Custom Shape (give it a name and click Save)
5. Bam! There you go. Now you can go to the Edit menu -> Preset Manager, select Custom Shapes, Save Set...and email to co-workers or friends. You can also post it on a server or publish it on a website and become famous.
